Top 5 tips for students on preparing for fairs and networking events:

  1. Dress in business casual – no need for a full suit, but dress pants/skirt or khaki/twill, and a dress shirt are welcome – no jeans please – it’s important to dress your best even when attending virtual fairs!
  2. Research companies/organizations ahead of time using Handshake, LinkedIn and company web sites and think of questions you may want to ask.
  3. Update your resume or create one – drop in to meet with a Peer Advisor to have yours reviewed beforehand!
  4. Practice interviewing before fairs – sign up for in-person or virtual Mock Interviews on Handshake or use Big Interview – interview software
  5. Download the Handshake app before the event to favorite companies, see where they are on fair maps and more!

Back by popular demand: this unique class explores international business at a time of mass disruption. Join us on an innovative, virtual exploration of the business and culture of Italy though a remote “trip” that you can do from home. Given protectionism, pandemics, and risks of political fragmentation, COVID-19 has created an unprecedented time in Italy, Europe, and the world.

Our Italy-based instructor will guide you through an examination of the business, social, financial, and political responses to disruptions in Italy and the EU, including the pandemic and Brexit. Hands-on cultural events are infused throughout the class, using virtual reality headsets for city visits, live tours with interactive guides, a hands-on cooking class, language lesson, and more. The class will feature industry speakers and an opportunity to network with Italian students.

When you complete this program you will have the skills and knowledge to jumpstart your future study abroad, travel, and international business experience.

  • Earn 3 s.h. that counts toward FIN:4020 or International and Global Issues for Tippie students, and the International Business Certificate
  • Fulfill Tippie RISE
  • Learn about Italian culture through hands-on, interactive cultural activities like cooking, painting, language, and live city tours
  • Network with alumni, companies, and Italian students
  • Class dates: December 27 – January 14

We have multiple scholarships available!

  • The Tippie College of Business offers many scholarships for study abroad that you can apply for all on one application. The early deadline for winter programs is October 1. You will have a decision prior to the confirmation due date.

Virtual International Business and Consulting Projects in the Asia Pacific Region

Gain a deeper understanding of international business in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Hong Kong through a virtual course and hands-on consulting project. In today’s business environment, it is essential to be able to adapt to working virtually. This experience will teach you how to work with an international client remotely while collaborating with a team to create real world business solutions for a company.

Program highlights:

  • Hands on experience with a global company- see project examples
  • Explore environmental factors that impact business in the fast-growing, dynamic region of the Asia Pacific
  • Learn about the socio-economic, technological, political, and legal factors impacting international trade in this region
  • 3 s.h. counts toward required Marketing major class OR International and Global Issues Gen Ed

  • Scholarships available

Programs will not involve international travel in Winter 2020. They will be entirely virtual and are approved to count for Tippie RISE.

Considering decreasing your alcohol or drug use?

Success, Not Excess provides a safe and supportive space for UI students wanting to make or considering changes in their alcohol or other drug use. The group emphasizes success in academics, relationships, mental and physical health, and other goals through abstaining or reducing alcohol and other drug use. The group operates from a “no pressure” approach by encouraging discussion of shared experiences and achieving success on campus by removing the barriers created by substance use.

Looking for extra support in Micro, Macro or Stats for Biz? Visit with the Tippie Learning Coaches!

As you begin the semester in Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, or Stats for Business, get additional support from our Tippie Learning Coaches.  They are tutoring virtually and in-person now through the end of the semester.  It’s a great way to review content and get specific questions answered.

Drop-in tutoring will be offered for all three subjects throughout the week at the following times:
