Attention Graduates- Hawkeye Farewell on the Pentacrest is this week!

This week is an opportunity for graduates to celebrate their final days as students at the University of Iowa. Distribution of commencement materials will occur for Spring 2021 degree applicants. Professional photo opportunities and the chance to snap a photo with Graduation Herky will be additional activities to enjoy. Activities will occur on the Pentacrest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

YAB Summer Mentor Program- applications due April 9

The Young Alumni Board (YAB) Summer Mentor Program is for Tippie students who are interested in being connected with a Tippie alum during a six-week virtual mentoring program in Summer 2021. The mentor serves as a professional resource and helps you to build your professional network in your industry and/or city.  Mentoring resources and guidelines will be provided to both the mentor and mentee. Matches to students are primarily based on industry interest and where applicable, in the same city. Even if you don’t have an internship this summer, you are welcome to apply.

Below is a bit more information about the program:

Who are the mentors? Tippie alums working in the mentee’s target industry and, where applicable, in the same city of their internship / volunteer opportunity.

How does it help? Provides access to the Hawkeye community outside Iowa City as well as insight into careers and professional opportunities.

How does it work? The alum mentor will contact the mentee at the beginning of summer and will meet with them at least three times virtually throughout the six-week program

How big of a time commitment is it? We will provide guidelines and resources in the program. Mentors and mentees will be asked to participate in a kick-off call, provide feedback via a mid-summer survey, and attend the program wrap-up call at the beginning of August. We will request that each alum connects with their mentee at least three times during the mentoring program.

Frontier Co-op Case Competition- launch event this Thursday, February 19

Net Impact and Enactus are partnering with the Frontier Co-op to host the 2021 Frontier Co-op Case Competition on March 5.

The launch event is this February 19th at 12:30 pm. During the launch event, participants will receive relevant training to compete in the competition. The goal of this event is to provide an experiential learning opportunity that all Hawkeyes, of any major, can benefit from. The case provided will teach students to work together in teams to solve a real-world sustainability business problem. On top of that, the event includes a free lunch and the finals, which will be held March 5, will give teams the chance to win up to $4,500!

December grads- fill out the survey by Tuesday (November 17) to pick up your gift this week!

Since we cannot celebrate with you in person, we are excited to share that we have a special graduation gift, a Tippie alumni t-shirt and a tassel, to help celebrate you and your accomplishments. In order to pick up your special graduation giftbag you’ll need to fill out the graduation survey by Tuesday, Nov. 17.Those students that fill out the survey by the deadline will be entered into a drawing to win ONE Tippie College of Business diploma frame. The winner will be notified via their non-uiowa email provided in the survey.

You will be able to pick up your graduation gift bag in front of the UPO galleria on Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 10AM – 12:00PM and 1PM – 3PM. Or on Thursday, Nov. 19 from 10AM – 12:00PM and 1PM – 3PM. You must pick up your own gift bag in person. Only one bag will be provided per person. Masks and being socially distant in line will be required. Funding for Student Organizations- available through Late Night Programs

Is your organization looking for event funding?

You’re in luck! There is funding available for Late Night Programs. Any registered student organization or department is eligible to receive Late Night Programs Grant Funding.

What are Late Night Programs?

Any event hosted on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night that covers at least the hours of 10pm-12am.

The purpose of Late Night Programming is to promote health, well-being, and safety of students by providing opportunities to engage with others and build community in an environment without alcohol.

Peer Mentor applications due Monday, February 10

Are you looking for a meaningful leadership opportunity? You should consider applying to be a peer mentor.

Peer mentors are responsible for helping co-teach the Direct Admit Seminar and helping the first year students adjust to college. If you want to learn more about the position, there will be one more information session on Wednesday, February 5 at 12:30 pm in S104 PBB.
