Immerse yourself in Northern Italy over winter break and gain a unique firsthand perspective of the business decisions facing leaders in the Eurozone today. Dive deeper into the economics, finances, and geopolitics that impact not just the EU, but the U.K., the U.S., and the entire world through company visits, guest speakers, and cultural activities.

Program Highlights

  • 13 days in Northern Italy during holiday season (New Years and Epiphany)
  • Experience multiple towns, including Padua, Venice, Verona, Asolo, Bassano del Grappa, and Paderno del Grappa
  • Visit prominent local businesses and learn from industry guest speakers
  • Incorporate Italy’s international environment directly into classroom topics
  • Earn credit toward finance major or international global issues gen ed
  • Fulfill a portion of the International Business Certificate
  • Enjoy a cultural excursion days and free time to explore Italy

Work Visa Options After Graduation

Experienced immigration attorneys David Gluckman and Jonathan Moore of McCandlish Holton will discuss work visa options for international students after
graduation, including Optional Practical Training (OPT) and H-1B. They will present practical advice on job search strategies and how to deal with the H-1B quota, as well
as options other than H-1B for those who qualify.

Suit-Up Event hosted by JC Penney – Sunday, Sept 15

JC Penney at Coral Ridge Mall is hosting Suit Up for UI students on Sunday, September 15th from 6-9 p.m. to assist students in getting clothing at a discounted price for professional trips, presentations, interviews and career fairs other needs.

This is a special event sponsored by JC Penney that open exclusively to students at the University of Iowa to purchase career dress/casual apparel at up to 60% off. Transportation is available by shuttle bus that will be at the IMU beginning at 5:30 pm and returning at 8:30 and 9:30 pm. Please bring your Student ID for admission into the store. Be sure to RSVP on Handshake under Events.

Join Tippie Buddies — Apply by 9/16

International Buddies at Tippie is back for the fall semester!

 

As a buddy, you are paired with a student from another culture for a semester of social events and friendship.  This fall, we’ll be eating well, spending time off campus, and offering our downtown discounts for coffees and meals with your buddy.

Deadline to apply is Monday, September 16.

Kickoff will be Tuesday, September 24, with matches made soon before that.

How to Add or Drop Classes through Monday, September 9

As of Tuesday, September 3 the following rules will apply through Monday, September 9.  This information is provided as a quick guide.  The Registrar’s Office publishes all policies related to adds and drops.    Please see the Registrar’s website for the full policies.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: The last day to drop semester-length courses is Monday, November 4.

The processes below relate to semester-length, classroom-based courses:

Pre-Business Students

Add – with change of registration form.  Signature must be obtained from instructor and advisor.  Take form to UI Service Center at 2700 UCC for processing. Deadline is Monday, September 9 at 4:30pm.  After this date, add can only occur with Dean’s approval.

Drop – process is initiated in MyUI.  Authorization of advisor must be obtained.  Athletes and international students may require additional authorizations.  Drop can be completed in MyUI after authorization(s) obtained.  Course will be removed from transcript (no “W” grade will appear) if drop is completed by 11:59pm on Monday, September 9.  Authorizations must be requested by 4:00 on Monday, September 9.

Direct Admit Students and Transfer Students enrolled in first 2 semesters at UI

Add – with change of registration form.  Signature must be obtained from instructor and advisor.  Take form to UI Service Center at 2700 UCC for processing. Deadline is Monday, September 9 at 4:30pm.  After this date, add can only occur with Dean’s approval.
