Tippie Buddies is BACK!

Experience a new culture at Tippie while sharing your culture with someone new.

 

International Buddies at Tippie places international and American students in small groups based on mutual interests.  Everyone is welcome to join — no matter what country or time zone you’re in!

Throughout the semester, you’ll regularly meet up with your buddies for zoom hang-outs, game nights, and even an online cooking class!  We will have small-group & large-group activities.

Through interactive company visits, cultural excursions, discussions, and readings, you will explore how business operates in China, strategies in the Chinese market, US-China trade relations, and the Chinese consumer.

Diversity and Business Ethics Case Competition in Boulder, CO (APPLY by December 10th)

Participate on a case competition team and put your business knowledge to the test! Compete in the Diversity and Business Ethics Case Competition this upcoming February 21-22, 2020 in Boulder, CO.

The Diversity and Business Ethics Case Competition (DBECC) is hosted by the Leeds School of Business at University of Colorado, Boulder. DBECC is an opportunity for students to gain real world experience while competing in a case challenge focused on diversity and ethics in a business setting. Their aim is to bring together diverse and well-rounded students from business schools across the country. Learn more at their website.

International Education Week

Happy International Education Week, Hawkeyes!

This is a week to celebrate international educational exchange!  The Tippie College of Business is home to international students and scholars, as well as students who participate in study abroad and internship abroad opportunities.  Business is global, and as such, Tippie is too.

Deadline Extended: LEARN, REFLECT, & SERVE as part of the 2020 Tippie Hawkeye Service Breaks Team to Detroit (counts for Tippie RISE)

The participant application for 2020 Tippie Hawkeye Service Team focused on Economic Equity and Restoration in Detroit, MI is now open! Submit application before Tuesday, October 29 at 5:00 pm.

Hawkeye Service Breaks exist to promote service learning, social justice, and community building to University of Iowa students during an alternative break.  The 2020 participants will enroll in a 3 s.h. course in the spring semester in a 10 week course that meets in person for 1 hour 15 minutes once per week in addition to a weekly online module. Participants will also travel with their teams to their city over spring break (March 14-19) and work with nonprofit partners to address a specific topic in the community. To cover most costs associated with this trip (travel, lodging, meals, activities, etc.), the course includes a $175 fee.  A limited number of need-based scholarships are available.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Apply for the National Diversity Case Competition Team by Sept. 27th

The Kelley School of Business (Indiana University) – National Diversity Case Competition (NDCC) is a premier event that brings together top-level, diverse talent from colleges and universities across the country. The two-day event includes a networking reception and dinner, case competition, and workshops. The NDCC is held annually over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend and in 2020 the Kelley School will host the 9th annual competition on January 17-18, 2020. The NDCC team chosen to represent the Tippie College of Business will be a team of four students who exhibit a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion in their academic and professional interests. Tippie students will apply individually at the link below. You will then hear back from the Selection Committee after all applicants have been initially reviewed. Students will be selected based off of demonstrated interest in competition, leadership, and involvement experience. The team can have no more than one Senior and at least two members must come from an underrepresented student background. Application extension deadline is Friday, September 27th at 3:00PM.

Corporate partners also have the opportunity to recruit students by judging the case competition, presenting workshops, and participating in the networking reception. Undergraduate students from institutions across the United States will be able connect with the event’s corporate partners throughout the weekend. Sponsors include: Target, EY, GE, Proctor & Gamble, Bank of America, PwC, Amazon, and many others!

Student who compete in the competition will:

  • Have provided meals, lodging, and travel expenses to Indiana University in Bloomington, IN (flight and ground travel)
  • Prepare competition material and practice presenting with Frank Center staff
  • Find opportunities to engage with corporate partners and recruiters to make career connections
  • Network with other talented students from across the country
  • Compete in a case competition with over 40 universities to win $20,000 in cash prizes
