DEADLINE EXTENDED: Apply for the National Diversity Case Competition Team by Sept. 27th

The Kelley School of Business (Indiana University) – National Diversity Case Competition (NDCC) is a premier event that brings together top-level, diverse talent from colleges and universities across the country. The two-day event includes a networking reception and dinner, case competition, and workshops. The NDCC is held annually over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend and in 2020 the Kelley School will host the 9th annual competition on January 17-18, 2020. The NDCC team chosen to represent the Tippie College of Business will be a team of four students who exhibit a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion in their academic and professional interests. Tippie students will apply individually at the link below. You will then hear back from the Selection Committee after all applicants have been initially reviewed. Students will be selected based off of demonstrated interest in competition, leadership, and involvement experience. The team can have no more than one Senior and at least two members must come from an underrepresented student background. Application extension deadline is Friday, September 27th at 3:00PM.

Corporate partners also have the opportunity to recruit students by judging the case competition, presenting workshops, and participating in the networking reception. Undergraduate students from institutions across the United States will be able connect with the event’s corporate partners throughout the weekend. Sponsors include: Target, EY, GE, Proctor & Gamble, Bank of America, PwC, Amazon, and many others!

Student who compete in the competition will:

  • Have provided meals, lodging, and travel expenses to Indiana University in Bloomington, IN (flight and ground travel)
  • Prepare competition material and practice presenting with Frank Center staff
  • Find opportunities to engage with corporate partners and recruiters to make career connections
  • Network with other talented students from across the country
  • Compete in a case competition with over 40 universities to win $20,000 in cash prizes

How to Add or Drop Classes through Monday, September 9

As of Tuesday, September 3 the following rules will apply through Monday, September 9.  This information is provided as a quick guide.  The Registrar’s Office publishes all policies related to adds and drops.    Please see the Registrar’s website for the full policies.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: The last day to drop semester-length courses is Monday, November 4.

The processes below relate to semester-length, classroom-based courses:

Pre-Business Students

Add – with change of registration form.  Signature must be obtained from instructor and advisor.  Take form to UI Service Center at 2700 UCC for processing. Deadline is Monday, September 9 at 4:30pm.  After this date, add can only occur with Dean’s approval.

Drop – process is initiated in MyUI.  Authorization of advisor must be obtained.  Athletes and international students may require additional authorizations.  Drop can be completed in MyUI after authorization(s) obtained.  Course will be removed from transcript (no “W” grade will appear) if drop is completed by 11:59pm on Monday, September 9.  Authorizations must be requested by 4:00 on Monday, September 9.

Direct Admit Students and Transfer Students enrolled in first 2 semesters at UI

Add – with change of registration form.  Signature must be obtained from instructor and advisor.  Take form to UI Service Center at 2700 UCC for processing. Deadline is Monday, September 9 at 4:30pm.  After this date, add can only occur with Dean’s approval.

Drop – process is initiated in MyUI.  Authorization of advisor must be obtained.  Athletes and international students may require additional authorizations.  Drop can be completed in MyUI after authorization(s) obtained.  Course will be removed from transcript (no “W” grade will appear) if drop is completed by 11:59pm on Monday, September 9.  Authorizations must be requested by 4:00pm on Monday, September 9.

Standard Admit, Direct Admit, and Declared Majors enrolled in 3rd or later semester at UI

Add – with change of registration form.  Signature must be obtained from instructor only.   Take form to UI Service Center at 2700 UCC for processing. Deadline is Monday, September 9 at 4:30pm.  After this date, add can only occur with Dean’s approval.

Drop – process is initiated on MyUI.  Authorization of advisor is not required. Athletes and international students may require authorizations.  Course will be removed from transcript (no “W” grade will appear) if drop is completed by 11:59pm on Friday, August 31.  Authorizations (if needed) must be requested by 4:00pm on Monday, September 9.

Adding and Dropping the First Week of Classes

You may add and drop courses the first week of the semester via MyUI. This option ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 2.

Adding and Dropping the Second Week and On

  • Adding courses (Paper Form Needed)
    Starting Tuesday, September 3, you will have to use a paper Change of Registration Form to add courses or change sections.  You can get a change of registration form: https://registrar.uiowa.edu/changes-registration
    • You will an instructor’s signature to add or change sections.
    • You’ll also need an advisor’s signature if you are a prebusiness student or if you are a student admitted to the Tippie College in your first year of enrollment at the University.
    • You do not need an advisor’s signature to change sections of the same class.

The last day to add semester-length courses is Monday, September 9.

  • Dropping Courses (MyUI or Paper Form)
    • Starting Tuesday, September 3, you may continue to drop courses using MyUI. You will be prompted about the permissions you’ll need to drop.  Student-Athletes and International students require additional permissions.
    • Instructor’s permissions are NOT required for dropping courses.
    • If you are a prebusiness student or if you are a student admitted to the Tippie College in your first year of enrollment at the University, you will be required to meet with your advisor to receive permission to drop a course.
    • Tippie students in their second year and above do not need an advisor’s permission to drop.

The last day to drop semester-length courses without a W is Monday, September 9 Starting September 10 you will have a “W” on  your transcript when you drop a semester length course.

The last day to drop semester-length courses is Monday, November 4.
