The Career Center offers academic courses on topics such as exploring careers and majors, researching graduate school, professional and life skill development, and for the Certificate in Leadership Studies. Some courses are available online, others in-person, and some are a hybrid combination of both. They carry 1 to 3 hours of academic credit. Career Leadership Academy
For over a decade, Career Leadership Academy has stood out for its innovative approach to leadership and career preparation. Over 1000 University of Iowa students have participated in this two-part course series, earning academic credit, developing an edge as leaders and connecting with professionals in their career field. Leadership Studies Certificate
Completing the Leadership Studies Certificate is a way students can develop, sharpen, and showcase leadership skills that will serve them for their entire professional career.

Overview of relevant history, theory, and practice of women in effective leadership; women leaders from historical to modern times; focus on exploring obstacles and challenges faced by women in leadership and how people of all genders can work to overcome these barriers. This course also counts toward the Certificate in Leadership Studies.
