Register for Hawkeye Service Breaks (LS:1024) during Early Registration for a Tippie RISE experience!

This course is an introduction to theoretical approaches to service-learning and shared experiential learning. The class includes concepts of the intersectionality of varied social and community issues, reflection and reciprocity, active citizenship and community building, practical implementation of skills from student’s academic disciplines, and leadership development. This is a 10-week course that meets in person for 1 hour 15 minutes once per week in addition to a weekly online module that students must complete before class.

Due to the change in the academic schedule, the immersive portion of this year’s program will happen over the course of three weekends. Students will participate in there retreat immersion experience with their designated team as part of the course requirements. Through these weekends, students will complete approximately 24 total hours of service and impact related to the team’s topic and participate in critical reflection each evening.

Students in the Tippie College of Business and Pre-Business students are strongly encouraged to apply to the Tippie sponsored team at the link above.
