We have reached capacity and are no longer accepting new requests.

If you previously contacted us or completed our VITA request form:
Yes, we are helping you.

We ask for your patience while we work through all the requests we have received. We are preparing returns in the order we received them. We prepare each return with care and diligence – this takes much longer in a virtual setting.

The IRS and Iowa each extended their filing deadline. The new deadlines are:

Federal: May 17, 2021
Iowa: June 1, 2021

If you have not previously contacted us:
We are not able to help you before the extended filing deadlines. Information about other alternatives is available at the IRS website.

Due to Covid restrictions, our VITA program will operate using nearly contact-less methods until at least late March. You can opt to use our 100% Virtual process, our Hybrid process,or be on our waiting list. See information about these processes.

  • If you choose our 100% Virtual process, you will need a computer. You will complete electronic Intake forms and upload those forms and other tax documents to a secure server.
  • If you choose the Hybrid process, we will mail forms to you and you must drop off completed forms and tax documents at one of our Drop-Off locations (see times below). To choose your preferred process, complete this form: http://bit.ly/UI_VITA_Enroll.

Our VITA program will operate from January through April 2021.

Spanish, sign-language, and other language interpreters are available by arrangement. We will be using a phone interpreter system.

Drop-off is a drive-up/walk-up service for taxpayers who have elected to use our Hybrid VITA process. This process uses limited-contact VITA Intake.

  • REMEMBER: Bring your photo ID and social security cards for you, your spouse (if filing jointly), and anyone listed in the bottom section of page 1 of the yellow Intake Sheet. A VITA volunteer will check these documents at the drop-off site and return them to you.
  • Make sure your name is on your Taxpayer Envelope.
  • Make sure all forms and documents are in your Taxpayer Envelope. DO NOT put your photo ID or social security cards in this envelope.
  • YOU MUST wear a make covering your nose and mouth during drop off. If you don’t have a mask, one will be provided.
  • Limited photocopying for taxpayers dropping-off Intake documents is available at these locations.

Check the information below to find the site and time most convenient for you.
