Graduation is one of life’s greatest achievements. The pinnacle of all that has been achieved during your time at the Tippie College of Business. As you probably know, the Class of 2020 will not have the chance to experience the thrill of walking across the stage and receiving their diploma this spring due to the COVID-19 crisis.

While a physical graduation is not possible, we are calling on the Tippie alumni community to still celebrate our graduating seniors and honor their achievement with a #TippieToast on social media.

The #TippieToast is a weeklong celebration where you are invited to share a picture or short video with words of inspiration or congratulations to the Class of 2020. Are you passionate about creating a welcoming environment for all students in Tippie? Do you have an interest in international affairs and current issues? If so, apply to be on the Tippie Global Engagement Student Advisory Board today!

GESAB is comprised of student leaders who serve as advisors for the college on issues related to the international student experience and expanding global cultural awareness. GESAB’s mission is to promote a culture of inclusivity and global awareness both in and out of the Tippie classroom.

GESAB reflects the diversity of the undergraduate student body. Members agree to serve for at least a one-year term on the board, meeting both as a large group and in small subcommittee planning groups.

Grading selection change form

It is possible change your grading selection (from grade to P/N or P/N to grade) by using new forms on the Tippie and CLAS websites.  Please wait until you can view your final grades to complete the form.  This reduces the likelihood of having to complete the form more than once.  Final grades should be posted by May 21 or 22.

Young Alumni Board (YAB) Summer Mentoring Program- apply by tomorrow, May 13

The Summer Mentor Program targets Tippie students and graduating seniors (December 2019 and later) who have an internship or volunteer opportunity during the summer. The program matches students with an alum in their target industry, and, where applicable, in the same city. The mentor serves as a professional resource for the student and helps the student build their professional network in that industry and city. The program is based primarily on virtual meetings. The application is due May 13 and can be found here.

Below is a bit more information about the program:

Who are the mentors? Tippie alums working in the mentee’s target industry and, where applicable, in the same city of their internship / volunteer opportunity.

How does it help? Provides access to the Hawkeye community outside Iowa City as well as insight into careers and professional opportunities.

How does it work? The mentor will contact the mentee at the beginning of summer and will meet with them several times virtually throughout the summer.

How big of a time commitment is it? We provide guidelines and resources in the program kick-off call, touch base in the mid-summer survey, and will wrap up the program at the beginning of August. You will meet with your mentor ~3 times. This is a low to moderate time commitment.

How do I sign up? The application period is open until May 13. You will receive your match by May 22.
