Think about how many things you buy online. It’s probably a lot more than what you would have bought online a few years ago. E-retail is growing rapidly, and with 93% of online experiences starting with a search engine, digital marketing is becoming very important.

Matt Cardoni

Today the Marketing Academy welcomed account executive at Performics, Matt Cardoni, to talk about digital marketing and the Google Grants University (Adwords) Competition.

An alumni of Tippie, Matt Cardoni has worked in Search Engine Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, Paid Search and web analytics for the past 7 years. Through a partnership with the GMA and Net-Impact, Matt will be helping Tippie students in the “Google Grants University” – a Google Adwords challenge that allows students to work for non-profits that have received a Google Adwords Grant.

The ten-week competition involves 9 non-profit that have received a Google Adwords grant. Students will work in teams of 2-3 to use Adwords to increase traffic on their non-profits website. At the end of the ten weeks they will present the effects of the grant and their efforts.

Google Grants University has been announced as a finalist for a US Search Award in the charity, not for profit or social enterprise sector. The US Search Awards recognize and reward organizations, agencies and individuals based in the search and digital marketing industry. The inaugural awards feature 22 categories and will be presented at a ceremony on October 23 at Treasure Island Las Vegas.
