The University of Iowa is an exciting place-full of academic, cultural, and social opportunities. Yet, attending a large university can be overwhelming and a little intimidating.
Many students have found that programs like The Iowa Edge eased their concerns and ensured a successful transition to university life. The Iowa Edge, August 18-22, is an exciting program for 72 African American, American Indian, Asian American, Latino/a, and first-generation college students.
"Iowa Edge provided me an opportunity to jump-start my education. It opened doors to various resources on campus that are vital for a successful education. Through this program I became acquainted with the campus and the city,
built relationships with other students in the program, and gained the
confidence I needed to begin the next chapter of my life! I would
definitely recommend Iowa Edge to all students!"
- Anthony Pulliam, pre-integrative physiology major, Davenport, Iowa
"Iowa Edge gave me the confidence I needed to know that I can feel at home and succeed here at the University. It helped me make friends and prepared me for a new life here at Iowa. I recommend Iowa Edge to all incoming students because it helps to put Iowa City right in the palms of your hands."
- Ariel Watson, pre-business major, Aurora, Illinois
"Iowa Edge does a phenomenal job at the transitional experience.
It integrates us into the community and creates close bonds between us all."
- Eddie Navarro, music major, Aurora, Illinois
"Attending the Iowa Edge really helped me not only to adapt to living away from my family for the first time, but also
to getting used to
living in a mostly white community.
