Getting onto the Bone Marrow Registry is a painless process that involves swabbing the inside of your cheek. Quick and easy!
We just received the finalized results of the Bone Marrow Registry Drive, and the results are definitely worth sharing.
First, to give you an idea of where we started: the Graduate Marketing Association’s goal was to increase the registry by 500 people.
Last year, the GMA’s drive added about 250 people so this was definitely a stretch goal.
We decided to spread our efforts wider this year than last, and held separate drives at six locations around campus as well as online.
We chose 2 of Iowa’s busiest residence halls (Burge and Hillcrest), the Business building, and set up shop at the UI’s annual health fair. We even visited one of the UI’s remote campuses!
We had great success at all the events, but particularly at MAZE:
- Burge Residence Hall 72
- Pappajohn Business Bldg 32
- UI Health Fair 53
- MAZE 261
- Hillcrest Residence Hall 94
- Oakdale Campus 44
- Online 6
Total for the week 562!!
Big kudos and a “great job” to everyone who participated – we couldn’t have done it without you.
Thank you for taking the time to volunteer at the booths, to tell your friends about the event, to buy ice cream at Cold Stone, and to join the Registry, etc.
Also, a special thanks to John Murry, Julee Darner of the IMDP, Project Marrow, and the other GMA leaders: Kelly Peacock, Mayuresh Bedakar, and Scott Marsh for their hard work and support to make this even happen!
