Editor’s Note: This is part of a series of profiles we’ll be posting over the summer to introduce everyone to our incoming Class of 2016. Enjoy getting to know our new students as they get to know each other, our current students, staff, and the entire Tippie community!

Hometown: Cedar Rapids, IA

Undergrad institution: University of Northern Iowa, Biology

Current city: Des Moines, IA

Current Employment: I currently work for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Pheasants Forever, Inc., and I use a variety of systems to promote outdoor activities to youth and their families. Many of my daily activities fall into the marketing category as I work with community members, volunteers, and supporters to promote mentored opportunities throughout Iowa.

In my previous career with the United States Army, I served as an infantry officer responsible for leading, training, and developing soldiers at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA and Kandahar, Afghanistan. My four years as a leader in the military provided the opportunity to lead over 170 soldiers in my organization. I also gained unparalleled experience in logistics, project management, problem solving, risk management, and budget analysis

Why I chose Tippie: Tippie offers the real-world business experience that I am seeking to start my post-military career. Programs like the Business Solutions Center (BSC), Iowa Medical Innovation Group (IMIG), and the career services team attracted me to the full-time MBA program. Paired with my background in organizational leadership, Tippie’s programs will prepare me for a leadership role in the business world.
