Editor’s Note: This is part of a series of profiles we’ll be posting over the summer to introduce everyone to our incoming Class of 2014. Enjoy getting to know our new students as they get to know each other, our current students, staff, and the entire Tippie community!
Nabil de Andrade

Nabil and his wife, Megan.
Hometown: Belo Horizonte/MG/Brazil
Undergrad institution: University of Iowa – Marketing and Management
Current city: Iowa City, IA
Current employment: My last experience before I moved to the US was managing a gymnastics center for Minas Tênis Clube, which is an institution with over 73,000 members and is one of the largest in Latin America. I led a team of 15 professionals and was responsible for generating resources through government grants and private sponsorships. I also implemented and managed a Quality Control System (ISO 9001-2008). I was able to triple the income from sponsors and doubled the number of athletes. As an outcome of the new projects, the athletes conquered two gold medals and two silver at the 2011 Wold Trampoline Championships, one Pan American all-around and event champion, as well as many other international and national titles.
Since college I have had many different professional experiences, from IT project management to starting two companies, one in sports marketing and one in stationery products. Even with my experiences being completely different, they all had one thing in common: they presented a challenge, and that is what motivates me!
Why I chose Tippie: During my undergrad I already knew I wanted to get an MBA and I knew it would be from Tippie. The strongest aspects of the Tippie program that attracted me were its dynamic program focused on innovating the experience of the students as well as the size of the classes, which allows closer contact with the professors.
Something unique about me: I was a gymnast for most of my life and even after retirement I still found ways to keep connected to the sport. Sports fascinate me for their ability to transform people. Two of my favorite things to do when I’m not doing/watching sports are cooking and eating.
