The last couple of months have been an exciting, and nerve-racking, experience for the first year MBA students. We have all been applying to as many internship opportunities as we can find that fit our backgrounds and career aspirations. It’s been exciting to hear that many students have begun to receive and accept offers from great companies all over the country.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to interview with a number of companies in the last few months. Although I haven’t received an internship offer yet, every interview offers a valuable learning experience and a chance to improve my interviewing skills. I’ve interviewed with Johnson & Johnson, United Stationers, Target, and most recently Lands’ End. Lands’ End was even gracious enough to invite me to visit their corporate headquarters for my final round of interviews, which is located in Dodgeville, WI. It was a great experience to tour their headquarters which houses over 5,000 employees and to meet with 5 different representatives from all different areas of their marketing team including social media, advertising, and campaign development.
Although the interview process is stressful and requires a lot of preparation, it is also a lot of fun and provides the opportunity to learn a great deal about different companies and the way they operate. In the end, we hope that all the preparation pays off too! Keep your fingers crossed for all of our first year students as we continue to secure fabulous internship positions for summer 2011!
