Beardoff!

Net Impact is holding one of the most fun events of the fall, Beardoff!  Beardoff is a competition and fundraiser within the MBA program, encouraging people to both grow facial hair and guess which MBA students will grow the best beard.  Net Impact is working with GFMA to donate all money to Kiva, a microloan organization.

This beard belongs to a Tippie MBA. Guess in the comments if you think you know whose it is!

Last week, participants were given an inspiring presentation on the history of facial hair, and specifically facial hair in business.  After the presentation, people were encouraged to participate, and “before” pictures were taken of all participants.  Within Beardoff, there are three different ways that a participant can win.  These categories will be voted on by the MBA student body in early December (when “after” pictures will be sent out):

1. Go the longest without shaving.  This includes any trimming or shaving of the neck.

2. People’s favorite, as voted on by the student body.

3. Best mustache, as voted on by the student body.

Winners will receive fabulous prizes.  And we understand that not all people can grow facial hair (due to genetics, job interviews, or gender), so we encouraged participation from all by having those who donate place their guess on which student will go the longest without shaving.  Those who are correct on their guess will win a prize as well.

If you are interested in participating – it’s not too late!  Please contact Jon Finley (jonathan-finley@uiowa.edu) to sign up!
