Even though my summer in Philly was fantastic, it is truly great to be back at home in Iowa City. My classmates arrived back on campus fresh off of internships that took us all over the country to locations such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Milwaukee, and Detroit. The past week was spent catching up and sharing tales from the summer. It seems like everyone really learned a lot and I’ll be interested to see where we all end up in the spring. My classmates and I have also been spending quite a bit of time welcoming the new class to campus; it sure seems like a fantastic bunch of people have joined the program! The picture above is of me and some fellow MBAers at a social event last week. This week is back to reality and our classes have really begun to ramp up. My classes so far have been terrific and I think this has made it a lot easier to transition back into the academic mindset.
I’m looking forward to a couple of big events this fall. The first is the NSHMBA career fair in Minneapolis. Some of you may remember that I secured an internship offer through this event last year, so I am hoping for a similar result on the full-time path this year. Aside from school, I have been training for the New York Marathon on November 2. It is sometimes tough to fit in my daily runs as the calendar is filled with school and social obligations, but after letting my physical fitness slide last year, I am determined to be more disciplined this time around. Finally, the first home football game is this Saturday! Fall in Iowa City is my favorite time of year; the city is overcome with Hawkeye fever. The MBA group always has a group of devoted fans and we’ll have a great time tailgating and cheering on our hawks this weekend!
Until next time….
GO HAWKS!
