Tippie Full-time MBA Application Fee Waivers

Tippie grants application fee waivers to strong candidates. These waivers allow a candidate to apply without paying the typical application fee of $60 (domestic) or $100 (international).

We define “strong candidates” as those who meet or exceed our class profile averages. These individuals typically have:

  • A strong work background (at least 2 years of experience in a professional environment, ideally with promotions or increasing responsibility)
  • Career goals in line with the Tippie program’s strengths
  • The ability to succeed academically (measured by a GMAT score that is strong as compared to the average score for your peer group; see below for averages).

Average GMAT in 2012 for:

  • Indian candidates: 704
  • Chinese candidates: 690
  • Domestic candidates: 650

To be considered for a waiver, please email your resume (2 pages maximum), GMAT score, and a short statement (one paragraph) of your post-MBA career goals to us at tippiemba@uiowa.edu.

Lydia joined Tippie in 2008 as Associate Director of Recruiting and Admissions, where she recruits new students to join Tippie every fall. She oversees digital communications, including email, social media and blogging, and coordinates Tippie’s calendar of recruiting events. Lydia earned her BBA in Marketing (2002) and her MBA in 2010, both from the University of Iowa. She's also venturing into the world of teaching this year, leading a course on Social Media Marketing for undergrad business students. She and her husband Nathan have a daughter, born in 2012, and two rowdy furbabies: Simon, a deranged cat, and a miniature schnauzer named Kitty.
