Fundraising Activities

We are working hard to raise $50,000 to fund this year's Tippie Build. Many of the activities we have planned are listed below. We hope that you will be able to join us for some of these events.

Our fundraising activities include:

 

Faculty Grill-Off - Tuesday, October 6
Sponsored by Delta Sigma Pi.

 
Faculty compete for the coveted golden spatula award. All you can eat hamburgers, hotdogs, cookies, and more. Suggested $5 donation.

This event raised $1,158 this year.

Personal Services Days - Sundays: October 18, October 25, November 8
Sponsored by Beta Alpha Psi.

Members of Beta Alpha Psi will be raking leaves, sweeping decks, and doing other services for homeowners in the Iowa City area. Services are free, but a voluntary donation to Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity is requested.

This event raised $1,767 on its first day of service!


Dodgeball Tournament - Saturday, October 24
Sponsored by Alpha Kappa Psi.
Dodgeball Tournament to support the Tippie Build. Teams of 6 will complete. $60 entrance fee per team. Checks only - make your checks payable to Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity.

Oktoberfest BBQ on the Patio - Thursday, October 29
Sponsored by Tippie Build Steering Committee.
Join us for Oktoberfest on the Tippie patio. We'll have hotdogs, pretzels, and keg rootbeer to celebrate in style. Suggested donation: $5.

Game Day Radio Sales - Saturdays: November 6 and 21
Sponsored by Tippie Build Steering Committee.
Tippie Build fundraisers will be selling Game Day Radios at two University of Iowa home football games. These headset radios allow you to listen to the game in real-time rather than 15-second delay. If you are at the game, give our fundraisers a big hello.

Silent Auction - Tuesday, December 1, 2009

Last year's Silent Auction was our biggest fundraising event. This year's will be even bigger and better!

Back by popular demand - the Faculty Dunk Tank!

This event is planned for Spring 2010 as part of Business Week.

Student Letter Writing Campaign
Hundreds of Tippie College students are writing personal letters to family and friends asking them to help us build the financial foundation for this year's Tippie Build. These same students will provide the volunteer labor to build the house.

Padfolio and T-shirt Sales
Students are selling Tippie padfolios ($20) and Tippie Build t-shirts ($10) to help fund the build. If you are interested in purchasing a padfolio or a t-shirt, send email to tippiebuild@uiowa.edu. One of our steering committee members will contact you.

Donate Directly to Habitat
Our donation page provides instructions for donating directly to Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity. Please be sure to indicate "Tippie Build" on your donation so that the funds are earmarked for our build.
