Purpose: To provide a means for our freshmen and sophomore members to receive advice, guidance, and constructive feedback, as well as develop meaningful relationships within the organization.
Objectives:
- To provide younger members with guidance and a means of learning about WIB, TCOB, and the University in general
- To provide a leadership opportunity for our junior and senior members
- To act as a motivator by encouraging WIB members to be involved and by providing them with a means of support.
- To share information and past learning experiences to younger members, as well as provide examples for them to follow so that they are better informed and can learn from others.
- To act as a counselors and establish open and trusting relationships between mentors and mentees.
Process:
WIB members can apply to be a part of the internal mentoring program as either a mentor or mentee at the beginning of the fall semester. All members are able to apply.
The internal mentoring program is affiliated with the WIB mentoring program but involves a separate application process. Members will be matched up by majors and other areas of common interest. Freshman and sophomore members are able to apply to be mentees within the program while juniors and seniors are qualified to apply to be mentors. Members will be paired based on their applications as seen fit by the executive board.
Once paired, members are responsible for communicating with each other throughout each semester and creating positive formal and informal experiences. All pairs are required to attend various mentoring events hosted by WIB, starting with the Kick-off Event.
Rules:
- Once in the program all members must be committed for at least a full semester.
- Pairs are required to meet at least once a month. If, after the first or second meeting, you decide that there is a personality clash or some other reason that you cannot work with this particular mentor/mentee, it is your responsibility to contact either the Vice President or the Vice President of Mentoring.
