Delta Sigma Pi - Epsilon Chapter

A Letter From The President:

Welcome to the Epsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi at the University of Iowa!  My name is Lisa Gillette and I am the current chapter president.  On behalf of our members I invite you to explore our site and learn about the impact we have on both the Tippie College of Business and the Iowa City community.  For 90 years our chapter has strived for excellence in the areas of community service, professional development, and brotherhood.  Our 60 members are active contributors in student organizations across campus including, but not limited to, student government, sorority and fraternity life, and various organizations within the College of Business.  Our members include the president of Tippie Senate, the president of a sorority, and multiple members in the Hawkinson Institute of Finance as well as 21 Under 21 award recipients.  Delta Sigma Pi aims to develop our members and encourages active participation in the classroom and in outside activities, but we realize the importance of aiding in the Iowa City community.

Last semester we continued many of our successful past events such as Ronald McDonald House, Charity Raffle and our aid to Horace Mann Elementary, a school near campus. In addition we hosted a charity date auction to raise funds for Haiti Relief. Deltasigs were also participants in Dance Marathon and Relay for Life. This semester it is our goal to expand our impact on the community by hosting a charity softball event, organize blood drives, and continue with our preexisting events.

In order to help our brothers secure their financial future and explore possible career opportunities, our members will have the opportunity to participate in a professional trip. Past trips have included Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City, and Nashville. During these trips we encourage our members to network with employers in order to learn about potential job and internship opportunities.

Our final pillar, Brotherhood, is very important to Delta Sigma Pi.  While we work very hard in both our studies and in our service, we also develop friendships that will last a lifetime. Once you become member of Delta Sigma Pi, I guarantee you will never be alone in the College of Business. It’s inevitable to bump into other Deltasigs when you’re walking through the halls of Tippie, in the ITC, and in classes. In addition, our strong alumni base continues to give back to current brothers by relaying internship and fulltime work opportunities, by presenting to the chapter about current issues in the professional world, and by preparing members for upcoming interviews. During Homecoming we will be inviting all of our alumni back to Iowa City to celebrate our 90th anniversary at Iowa.

Fall recruitment is a very important time as we look for an exciting and promising pledge class to strengthen our chapter.  If you have any questions about our events or about joining our organization please feel free to contact myself or any other member on our executive board. I hope you enjoy the site and GO HAWKS!

Fraternally,

Lisa Gillette
