UI Resources & ServicesHawkID and PasswordNew students: You will receive a letter from the Office of Admissions providing your Hawk ID and password. The Hawk ID and password will be used for entry into Blackboard and ISIS. A Hawk ID password policy has been created to protect students, employees, and resources across campus. Policy guidelines include:
Tools have been provided to make it easier for you to change your password, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, without the aid of the Help Desk or STSG. Enrollment for this service is available at the university's Hawk ID website. For more information, see hawkid.uiowa.edu or contact the ITS Help Desk, 384-HELP, 15 Lindquist South. UI E-mail AccountAll University of Iowa students are required to activate their assigned uiowa.edu email address, as all official communication from University offices are now sent via email, rather than hard copy. This address usually follows the pattern firstname-lastname@uiowa.edu. To Activate Your "@UIOWA.edu" Email Account:
Activating your account will automatically provide you with a Hawkmail system to access your "@uiowa.edu" email inbox. Logging In To Hawkmail via the Web
Re-routing Your "@uiowa.edu" Email To A Work Or Home Email Account:
IMPORTANT CAUTION REGARDING RE-ROUTING YOUR UIOWA.EDU EMAIL: There is a current glitch in the re-routing system. If you have re-routed your "@uiowa.edu" address to an off-campus email address (for example jdoe@rockwellcollins.com) , you may not be receiving all of your uiowa.edu mail in your preferred inbox. The Problem : When faculty/staff/students send messages to student Hawkmail accounts (the "@uiowa.edu" address), the message remains in Hawkmail and does not forward to the desired routing address. For example, if an instructor emails a student from his/her office computer using the student's "@uiowa.edu" email address, this message will only go to the student's Hawkmail address and will not forward to the routing address that was set up in ISIS. However, emails sent to students via ICON will forward to the routing address. Long-Term and Short-Term Solutions for Re-routing issue: UI IT Services is working on a long-term solution and should have one in the next 30 days. Until then students who have re-routed their email address should do one of the following: 1) Call in to the ITS Help Desk at 319-384-HELP to request your Hawkmail account be terminated. OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES:
ISISISIS is a university-wide self-service information system. You will need to know your hawk ID and password to use ISIS. Although many ISIS features (like course registration) are designed for on-campus students, MBA-PM students will use ISIS to:
Note: ISIS cannot be used to add/drop MBA-PM courses. You will continue to make changes in your registration through EMBARC at http://www.biz.uiowa.edu/mbapm/registration/. Your username and password for EMBARC will remain unchanged regardless of changes in your hawk ID and hawk ID password.
