New students: You will receive a letter from the Office of Admissions providing your HawkID and password. The HawkID and password will be used for entry into Blackboard and ISIS.

A HawkID password policy has been created to protect students, employees, and resources across campus. Policy guidelines include:

• Password expiration after 180 days.
• Temporary lock of accounts for 15 minutes after 5 failed login attempts during a 15-minute period.
• Passwords must contain at least two letters and two numbers.
• Passwords cannot match any part of your name.
• New passwords cannot match old passwords.

Tools have been provided to make it easier for you to change your password, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, without the aid of the Help Desk or STSG. Enrollment for this service is available at the University's HawkID web site. For more information, see hawkid.uiowa.edu or contact the ITS Help Desk, 384-HELP, 15 Lindquist South.

Every University of Iowa (UI) student is automatically assigned an email address/alias that the University uses to send official communications to. This is typically in the format firstname-lastname@uiowa.edu.  

To make sure your "uiowa.edu" e-mails are received, MBA-PM students MUST choose one of these two options:

OPTION A) Route Your "uiowa.edu" E-mail Alias to an Existing E-mail Account (e.g., gmail, johndeere.com):
This option allows MBA-PM students to receive their "uiowa.edu" e-mails in their work or home e-mail account.

To Route Your "uiowa.edu" Alias

• Log on to isis.uiowa.edu using your HawkID and password
  - In the "HawkID" field, type "your HawkID" (e.g., jdoe)
• Select My UIowa / My Email / Update Email Routing Address
• Remember—you will need to update your routing address in ISIS when your routing address changes

OR

OPTION B) Create a Hawkmail E-mail Account to Access Your "uiowa.edu" E-mails:
This option provides a separate account for students to maintain their "uiowa.edu" e-mails.

To Request a Hawkmail Account:

• Log on to isis.uiowa.edu using your HawkID and password
  - In the "HawkID" field, type "your HawkID" (e.g., jdoe)
• Click on My UIowa / My Email / Request Email Account
• Complete the specified steps

To Log in to Hawkmail:

• Launch your web browser and type http://email.uiowa.edu
  - In the "Domain\HawkID" field, type "iowa\your HawkID"
  - In the "Password" field, type your HawkID password
• Click the Log On button or press Enter (Mac: Return)
• Remember to check this account often as instructors use this address to communicate course-related time-sensitive information

To Stop Receiving Mass E-mails from On-campus UI Organizations (Optional)
UI students will receive e-mails related to campuswide student organizations and activities unless they "unsubscribe" from them. To opt out of receiving these e-mails, follow these steps:

• Log on to isis.uiowa.edu using your HawkID and password
• Click on My UIowa / My Email / Email Account Filter
• Review the categories and uncheck those you do not wish to receive

ISIS is a University-wide self-service information system. You will need to know your HawkID and password to use ISIS. Although many ISIS features (like course registration) are designed for on-campus students, MBA-PM students will use ISIS to:

• view course grades
• request official transcripts
• view University Bills (U Bills)
• obtain documentation for company reimbursement
• check status of admission application
• review financial aid history and application status
• obtain enrollment verification certificates

Note: ISIS cannot be used to add/drop MBA-PM courses. You will continue to make changes in your registration through EMBARC at http://www.biz.uiowa.edu/mbapm/registration/. Your username and password for EMBARC will remain unchanged regardless of changes in your HawkID and HawkID password.

In conjunction with Microsoft, The University of Iowa has announced an agreement for students to purchase Microsoft software at greatly discounted prices ($5 to $7.25). If you would like more information on this agreement, or to order software online, see the University Book Store web site.
