The Secrets of Successful Trade Financing

On Thursday, May 4 and Friday, May 5, the Institute for International Business co-sponsored two full-day seminars with the US Commercial Service titled " The Secrets of Successful Trade Financing " (.pdf file). The seminars were conducted by Chip Thomas, President, The American Export Training Institute (AETI).

This full-day seminar provided tools, techniques, and practical knowledge for export financing. Attendees gained a clearer and practical understanding of the following: the use of financing tools such as letters of credit and government resources; how to offer and arrange competitive terms; how to protect balance sheets from the risk of international trade; and how to identify creditworthy prospects.

Individuals were able to participate in one of two free, interactive one-hour Webex based presentations on export finance and payment tools by Mr. Thomas, who is the author of the "Trade Finance Handbook."
