Student Activity Reports

The IEM makes periodic reports available to adopting instructors. To obtain reports, an instructor must:
  1. Create a class by sending an email to the iem@uiowa.edu following these directions:

    Please send us an email at iem@uiowa.edu or call us at (319) 335-0881 with the following information

    • Course Title
    • Course Number/Registrar's Code
    • Instructors Name, Department, Address, (including City, State, Zip) Social Security Number, email, and phone number
    • Number of Students in class
  2. Have your students sign up for accounts under this class using the IEM On-line Registration Form. Please follow the student signup procedure to create student accounts.
  3. Contact the IEM requesting reports associated with this class at e-mail address: iem@uiowa.edu.
  4. Inform students that you will be receiving reports and what specific reports you will be receiving.
Reports can include:
  • Whether traders in a class have logged into their accounts.
  • Whether traders have executed a trade.
For use in assignments, students can print self reports including:
  • Trade histories
  • List of outstanding bids/asks
  • Bid/ask histories
  • Current portfolio
  • Liquidation reports

Currently, the IEM generates reports on the Monday following the third Friday of each month. For sufficiently large classes, the IEM will generate an additional report on a (business) day requested by the instructor. To discuss obtaining a custom report contact the IEM office (iem@uiowa.edu)

Submitting Assignments to this Archive

We invite you to submit assignments to this archive. This will make it easier for other instructors to adopt the IEM, providing deeper markets and allowing us to operate a wider array of interesting markets. Of course, you will also receive our acknowledgment and thanks for any assignments submitted. To discuss a submission, e-mail the IEM Administrator at iem@uiowa.edu.
