Prerequisite Assignment -1
The following assignment is a prerequisite to the first class in MBA 8130. It has several purposes. First it is meant to familiarize you with several technical necessities of the course. Second it is meant to give me a chance to get to know a little bit about you. Third it is to introduce you on a first blush level with the trading market you will be participating in this quarter.
1. Send me an e-mail message. Be professional. Tell me who you are, what qualifications you have to take this course, what prior experience you have had in business, and what prior experience you have had with accounting.
2. Get on the Iowa Electronics Market Homepage. This is a real market where real money is traded and also a market where you will be trading real money later in the quarter. Write me an e-mail about the homepage. In particular I think you will find the description of current markets as well as Frequently Asked Questions section of this Homepage useful. Tell me specifically.

Prerequisite Assignment -2
Start the Time Value of Money Program. Do problems 3,4,5,6,8,9,10,11,14,18,21 and 23. You can use either the program on the computers in the MBA lab or you can use the disk provided for you at orientation. Both Professors Nantell and Dickhaut are very concerned that you finish this assignment. Please bring your diskette to the first class and we will have the results recorded and reported to Professor Nantell.

In this assignment it is important that you get a feel for some of the resources on the internet that will be helpful to you both in this course, in later courses, and in later life. The point of this exercise is to get you browsing (surfing, warping) the internet to find useful accounting information. Send me this information via e-mail.
