How we develop Hawkinson Scholars?
Each year, 25-35 top undergraduate students, the majority of whom are finance majors, are
chosen to be Hawkinson Scholars.  They are chosen on the basis of academic performance,
leadership potential, and interpersonal skills.  We work with these students throughout their
academic careers, helping to develop and prepare them for challenging careers upon
graduation.  More specifically we:
- Educate students about prestigious job opportunities that exist beyond on-campus recruiting.
- Provide guest speakers from numerous industries to highlight different career opportunities
and to help students understand what they will actually do once they begin their careers.
- Create internship opportunities with relevant businesses to augment Scholars’ classroom learning
(providing supplementary stipends to alleviate burden on sponsoring companies, if necessary).
- Offer career counseling to the Scholars throughout their university careers, developing skills
that improve job opportunities (resume assistance, mock interviewing, and career coaching).
