Lecturer in Management Sciences Department.  Teach Computer Analysis (6K:070) and Systems Analysis & Design (6K:183).  Business & Technology Association Advisor.

August 1993 to July 2003 at Graceland University -

Tenured Associate Professor.  Teach upper and lower division Finance and Information Technology courses both on campus and through the College of Professional Studies.  Courses currently teaching:  Principles of Business Finance, Management of Information Systems, Systems Analysis & Design, and MicroComputer Business Applications I and II. Courses previously taught are Investment Analysis, International Finance, Managerial Finance, Small Business Ventures & Entrepreneurship, Organizational Behavior, Operations Management, and Introduction to Business. (See Teaching History below for more specific information.)

January 1998 at Symbios Logic -

Contract Programmer.  Wrote perl programs to help automate build process of FIBRE SCSI driver development.  The perl programs primarily ran on UNIX but interfaced also with the web.

February 1992 to July 1993 at NCR/AT&T Peripheral Products Division -

Senior Product Manager.  Program/Revenue responsibility for RAID Subsystems and Software.  Develop and execute product requirements, financial plan, life cycle management, selling models, distribution channels, positioning, and promotion.  Also contract management with suppliers and customers.

November 1990 to January 1991 and August 1991 to January 1992 at NCR Peripheral Products Division -

Engineering Quality Champion.  Managerial staff position reporting to the Director of Engineering responsible for Quality throughout Engineering.

October 1989 to October 1990 at NCR Peripheral Products Division -

Manager 6091 Subsystem Development.  Responsible for development of a family of peripherals -- disk, tape, optical.  This included supplier interface, hardware design, driver development, system's integration.  Managed twenty-one people.  The 6091 family is forecasted to be the highest revenue producer for the plant in 1991.

May 1988 to September 1989 at NCR Peripheral Products Division -

Manager VLSI CAE/CAD.  Computer systems/Networking support, Very Large Scale Integrated Circuits (VLSI) layout and test, and CAE/CAD development.  Included management of maintenance contracts and equipment budget.  Responsible for $2.5 million budget and managed thirteen people.

June 1987 to May 1988 at NCR Peripheral Products Division -

Assistant to the Director of Engineering (DOE) .  Management training position.  Assisted DOE with reports, minutes, primary interface to Corporate R&D, coordinated monthly Engineering Status meetings (280 people in Engineering), Engineering representative on several General Manager task forces.  Opportunity to be exposed to the running of the division at the upper level.

May 1985 to May 1987 at NCR Peripheral Products Division -

Programmer/Project Leader CAE Development.  Developed and maintained tools in Fortran and C programming languages used for VLSI development.  Primary responsibility was Interconnect Analysis which created files from the physical layout to be used by other tools in determining Real and Estimated delays.  Major feature added was Resistance/Capacitance consideration to timing.

October 1983 to April 1985 at NCR Peripheral Products Division -

Programmer on VOICENTER.  Helped develop a voice message handling application in C, VOICENTER and 8080 assembler languages.  Responsible for nineteen commands which included the variable and mailbox manager; selection, phone, and file support modules; and demo program development.

July 1981 to September 1983 at NCR Peripheral Products Division -

Programmer on Terminal Control Operating System (TCOS).  Assembly level programming for an 8-Bit processor.  Developed utilities for the External Memory Management System (EMS), Job Control Language (JCL) commands, and System Generation commands.  Received training on TCOS emphasizing the Scheduler, Interrupt Handling mechanisms.


 

Publications, Professional Presentations & Awards

Created Micro Computer Business Applications I DIS Course.  Wrote course Learning Guide and authored and acted in course Video tape completed June 2001.

Presented Course Web Page Creation.  Presented at Brown Bag for Graceland faculty on March 10, 2000.

Guest Lecturer on Management of Information Systems.  Presented at Nursing Class for Pat Trachsal January 2000.

Presented Academic Information Systems Plan.  Presented to Gracelend faculty in October 1999.

Created Principles of Business Finance Course on the Web.  Presented my internet course at a Faculty Brown Bag session for Graceland faculty on September 24, 1997.

Selected to Present at Behavioral Science Conference.  Canceled due to work internship obligations in January 1996.

Lead Discussion on Achieving Student Outcomes Through Cooperative Learning.  Lead Brown Bag discussion for Graceland faculty on November 10, 1995.

Wrote EURASIA Foundation Grant Proposal for Partnership between Graceland College & The Kiev State University of Trade and Economics.  Grant submitted June 1995, was in approval cycle when federal funding of EURASIA Foundation was removed.

Presented "S-Corporations".  A presentation sponsored by SIFE for Graceland students as well as the Lamoni community at Graceland College Shaw Center on April 6, 1993.

Received 1992 PPD and GPPG Customer Satisfaction Award.  Helped Dillions Food Store in rebooting their NCR computer system one evening when grocery shopping, they'd been down for approximate 45 minutes and all the cash registers were locked up.

Selected for 1989/1990/1991/1992/1993 High Potential Program.  People selected to be groomed for corporate management.

Leader of Team selected for 1990 General Manager's Team Award.  6091 Concurrent Engineering Team which spanned all major departments in the plant.

Selected as 1987 United Way Chairperson.  Chaired the Peripheral Products Divison (PPD) Committee for the United Way Campaign.  Increased contributions 18% over preceeding year even with reduced workforce.
