The Pomerantz Center

In Iowa City, Executive MBA courses are offered in the Pomerantz Center (see campus map for location).

The Pomerantz Center was completed in August 2005, and the first three floors house the Marvin A. and Rose Lee Pomerantz Career Center, the Admissions Visitors Center, the UI Alumni Association's Career Information Network, and the Academic Advising Center. The fourth floor is dedicated to the Tippie School of Management, including state-of-the-art classrooms for the Executive MBA Program, informal meeting areas, and student support services for MBA students. In addition to the latest technology, the classrooms offer panoramic views of the campus toward the Old Capitol dome.

The Tippie School of Management uses the latest communications and course delivery technology to help your EMBA class network effectively. The internet conferencing system allows you to work in real-time on a project. For example, your study group members can log on and work on a spreadsheet project simultaneously.

Some of the building highlights:

  • A Wireless LAN provides Internet access to any student with a network-enabled laptop
  • Students may take advantage of the Tippie College's purchase plan for a Dell laptop computer
  • The latest technology in our classrooms greatly enhances your learning experience

The Pappajohn Business Building, located directly across Market Street from the Pomerantz Center, is also available to Tippie EMBA students. Resources available in the Pappajohn Business Building include:

  • The Marvin A. Pomerantz Business Library provides a 30,000-volume resource area with electronic access to libraries around the world
  • Laptop computers are available for checkout from the Library for use throughout the building
  • The Instructional Technology Center features 100 workstations (the largest on campus), two 32-seat computer classrooms, and an operations/behavioral laboratory
