Delta Sigma Pi Epsilon Chapter

Letter from the President

Welcome to the Epsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi at the University of Iowa! My name is Caitlin Streit, and I am the current chapter President. On behalf of our 82 members, I invite you to explore our site and learn about the impact we have on both the Tippie College of Business and the Iowa City community. Founded at the University of Iowa in 1920, DSP is the oldest student organization in the Tippie College of Business. For the last 92 years we have strived to exemplify our organization’s three key pillars: professionalism, service, and brotherhood.

DSP was proud to receive three distinguished awards in 2011. Our chapter was awarded Speaker Series of the Year for our remodeled professional development program which included diverse speakers on a variety of topics. We were one of eight organizations to share the award for Program of the Year, an International Business Fair created through collaboration among student leaders. Finally, our advisor, Tom Walsh, was named Faculty Advisor of the Year. We are excited to continue this pattern of excellence as we kick off 2012.

Delta Sigma Pi offers members a variety of professional development opportunities. To help our brothers explore potential careers and secure their financial futures, our chapter takes a professional trip every semester. Past locations have included Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City, and Nashville. Additionally, we offer speakers, workshops, and professional development panels on relevant topics throughout the semester. Last year, we began a partnership with the MBA Association in the Tippie School of Management. We are looking forward to continuing this collaboration next semester.

While we strive to develop ourselves professionally, we also understand the importance of service and volunteer in the community regularly. Throughout the year, Deltasigs can be found at the Ronald McDonald House, UI Children’s Hospital, and Hope Lodge. Our members are actively involved in Tippie Build, Dance Marathon, and Relay for Life, among other organizations. We also maintain a close partnership with Horace Mann Elementary School. As we continue our favorite events this spring, we are also planning a new campus-wide service project with a large global impact.

In addition to the professional and service components of our organization, the brotherhood of Delta Sigma Pi is unparalleled. The strength of our brotherhood is evidenced by our strong alumni base, which continues to give back to current members by relaying internship and fulltime employment opportunities, presenting to the chapter about current issues in the professional world, and offering mentorship and advice. I believe the unwavering brotherhood in our Fraternity is one of the characteristics that make Delta Sigma Pi so unique.

Spring recruitment is a very important time as we look for yet another exciting and promising pledge class to strengthen our chapter. As a member of Delta Sigma Pi for three years now, I can tell you joining this organization was the best decision I’ve made in college so far. If you have any questions about our events or organization, please feel free to contact me or any other officer on our Executive Committee. We look forward to meeting you soon!

Fraternally,

Caitlin Streit
