Topic for Sample Personal Business Letter

You are a chartered personal accountant at the firm of Lock, Stock, and Barrel. First-time client Linda Dandy has written to thank the firm for saving her seven hundred dollars on her personal income tax return. She has also asked the following questions:

  1. Can Lock, Stock, and Barrel handle tax for her daughter's organic food store in Oregon?
  2. Can Lock, Stock, and Barrel handle tax for her husband's small boat-repair business here in Iowa?
  3. Would a representative of the firm be willing to attend a Retired Women's Business Association meeting and speak about tax shelters and opportunities for women?

Your answers to her questions should be as follows:

  1. LSB cannot handle her daughter's business, because the firm is not currently accepting out-of-state business clients. However, you can recommend a reputable tax firm in Portland. (You supply the name and contact information for this firm.)
  2. LSB can handle her husband's small boat-repair business.
  3. You must decide how to answer Ms. Dandy's request for a representative to attend the luncheon.

Ms. Dandy's address is:
Linda Dandy
777 Mountjoy Avenue
Iowa City, IA 52245
